I got a guitar for Christmas last year (like more than a year ago). This fall, I took a beginner guitar class. We learned all about chords, and scales on the guitar. I learned three songs: Blowin’ in the Wind, Redemption Song, and Yellow Submarine. All fine songs, but not much of a repertoire, and hardly enough for the campfire. For Christmas (or birthday) this year, I got a book of easy guitar arrangements for some Gordon Lightfoot songs. I’m not super good at the whole making myself practice without a class to keep me motivated thing, but this year I’m going to learn a few of those songs. Probably starting with one of my very favourite songs of all time, “Song for a Winter’s Night”.
